CruiseControl was a company made up out of me and another good school friend of mine. At this point i have to mention that he had nothing to do with RSV, another company of mine. The first time the name of CruiseControl appeared was on a warm summer evening in the town centre. It was about 21 o'clock and the humidity seemed to be about 1 percent higher than physically possible. The noise from a city festival next to us droned and we were more or less chasing girls in their short summer dresses. We maundered from one place to another and watched the cars passing by. We recognized that some obviously horny guys drove one round around the festival place after the other.
Due to some disappointments with some flirt trials we began counting the rounds the guys drove. After dozens of rounds they drove and meanwhile 2 percent higher humidity than possible my friend came up with a cool objection. A sentence that gave our senseless evening activity a name. "We are like a cruise control, a department that cares about safety on the streets.", he said. Suddenly my brain began working, you can say for the very first time on this evening.
CruiseControl was born on a hot and humid summer evening in 2003. At the beginning its full name was: CruiseControlCorporation Limited (CCC Ltd.). It existed for about 3 years. Everything our minds came up with in this time was published under the name CruiseControl. I designed a logo for each ones initials SV and NAE and the CruiseControl main logo. CruiseControl produced more than 15 short films with durations between 5 and 60 minutes, a company T-shirt, all in all four logo animations, two 65 minutes long radio play cds, an audio cd with 22 hip hop and trance songs, a short story book with 24 DIN A4 pages and dozens of experimental visual effect clips including stop motion videos. Beside that a sound library with more than 380 self made foley sounds was built up and about 120 DIN A4 pages of several not yet realized screenplay ideas were written.
Characters like Barnabar and Sansibar came up. Two squirrels which are addicted to DVD films and are lost in their own fantasy worlds. They saved the world, fought the evil, flew to the MIR space station, learned spanish and watched tons of DVDs, of course. Beside all that they had to take care of Minibar the younger brother of Sansibar. They survived lots of adventures on their journeys to supply themselves with the newest DVDs and technologies.
Don Quichotte and Don Röschen rode to Rome on their low-rider horses with chrome hooves and fought against wind mills. Nutman and Hazelboy saved the world's hazel-nut reservoir on their squeaking tricycle. Far, far away while Luke Squirrel resisted the dark side, Yoda Squirrel was busy with finding the phone number of Obi-Wan Squirrel in the phone book of The Force. Martial arts short films like Powerboys and Let's Fight were produced as well as a quintology of short films which were parodies of all in all 50 german proverbs.
